  1. REDIRECT If you are looking for a different link on say Cold Fusion, you would put your redirection at the top of the page like so. Using either style of Internal Linking appears to work just fine.

This article will serve as a test to show how the editing tool works within the Wikipedia environment.

Headings[edit | edit source]

For every heading we want to produce, we'll need to use equal signs to denote what level of header we want to use. The smaller the header number, the higher up it is, meaning the larger the heading appears. For instance, a header level of 2 would appear as large, and to make it one would need to use two equal signs on both sides of the heading text, with a space between the equal signs and the text. A header level of 4 would appear much smaller, with four equal signs on either side instead. Collectively, a header level of 4 would use 8 total equal signs.

Here's another Test. This is accomplished through a single bracket on either side with a space between the link and the link label. Format is always link then label.

And This.[1] To print a linking citation to your text at the end, simply placing the link in square brackets afterwards will be enough.

http://www.youtube.com This will print the hyperlinked link as is.

Internal Link Examples:

Cold War is used with double square brackets and will refer to the Cold War page. This will only work with Wikipedia pages specifically.

But this. is a link label to the Cold War page which works by adding a dividing line between the page and the label in double square brackets. This is a labeled link.

Text Editing[edit | edit source]

To write something down, simply write it as you would in the page editor. Beyond that, there are different ways you can stylize your writing.

Bold text would be produced using three apostrophes on either side of your text, with no spaces between the apostrophes and the text. This would use collectively six apostrophes.

Italic text would be produced using two apostrophes on either side of your text the same way bold text would. Collectively, this would use four apostrophes.

To find further text editing tools and guides, simply look into the editor under the Help section.

Protection and Creating Pages[edit | edit source]

To create a new page, there are four methods of creating a new page.

Method 1: Searching[edit | edit source]

  1. Search for a given page which you want to access.
  2. When Wikipedia tells you the page does not yet exist, it will prompt you, asking if you'd like to create this page.
  3. Click on this red prompt and you'll enter the text editor, allowing you to create the page from the ground up.

Method 2: Access any Red Link[edit | edit source]

  1. Click edit on any accessible page;
  2. Surround the page title you want to create in doubled brackets, e.g., Proposed Title;
  3. Click the Show preview button (not the Publish change button);
  4. Click on the red link revealed.

Method 3: Save a Red Link[edit | edit source]

Often you will want to have easy continuing access to a page you create. One way is to save a link at your user page, or sometimes, on your user talk page. Once you save a red link there, and create the page, the link will turn blue and will be accessible anytime you visit it.

  1. Go to your user or user talk page (both permanently linked at the top of any Wikipedia page);
  2. Surround the page title you want to create in doubled brackets, e.g., Proposed Title;
  3. Click the Publish change button;
  4. Click on the red link revealed.

Method 4: Changing a URL[edit | edit source]

If you click edit on any existing page or page section and then change the title of the page shown in the URL of your browser's address bar to the name of a non-existent page, and then hit return/enter, the resulting page shown will be the same as if you clicked on a red link, allowing you to create a page by the title entered. For example, were you to click edit at the top of this page, you would see this URL in your browser's address bar:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Proposed Title&action=edit

Citations[edit | edit source]

Finally, citations can be implemented into a page in a variety of ways. The most popular method is by creating a level 4 or level 3 header, then creating a list with matching references for each point number. Lists may be established by using number signs each line. And example is as follows:
