The Tundra Biome[edit | edit source]

In the Tundra there are huge snowy mountains and varieties of animals including a wide range of birds, land animals and water animals such as polar bears, seals and robins. There are also many different plants and terrain. The word tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturia meaning treeless plains. I hope you enjoy this information about the tundra.

Temperature[edit | edit source]

In the artic Tundra the temperatures varies between -34 to -54. It is one of the coldest places on earth.

Animals in the Tundra[edit | edit source]

The animals of the Tundra consist of lemmings, voles, squirrels, wolves, arctic foxes, polar bears, ravens, snow buntings, falcons, loons, sand pipers and many more!

Alpine Tundra's plants[edit | edit source]

The plants in the Alpine Tundra consist of dwarf trees, small leafed shrubs, heaths and many more!

Arctic Tundra's plants[edit | edit source]

The plants in the Arctic Tundra consist of low shrubs, Sedges, reindeer mosses, liver warts, 400 varieties of flowers and man more!

Igloos[edit | edit source]

They are round ,made of compact snow and are man made. People sometimes rent glass igloos to see the Aurora Borealis (northern lights).Igloos can reach 10c on a 2c day. Igloos are a ancient tradition made by the cavemen. Igloos only require snow so they are easy to make.
