What is it?[edit | edit source]

The Tundra Biome is land, which is mostly in Alaska, where it is extremely cold!

  • The Tundra Biome is extremely cold. (-34 degrees)
  • It comes from the Finnish word tunturia meaning treeless plain.
  • It is separated into two types. The artic tundra and the alpine tundra.
  • People also say it is a place where you can see the northern lights. (Aurora Borealis)
  • You can find Avalanches here.
  • Northern lights spot.
  • You can find it in the north pole and south pole.

Northern lights[edit | edit source]

The Northern lights are colours in the sky. When you see them they are beautiful and amazing. There is a picture at the side. As they dance they create an magnificent vibe. Something you may not know this but they can sometimes be seen in the tundra Biome. The amazing illusion is a beautiful seen and has an impact on young kids minds. [[1]]

Tundra Animals[edit | edit source]

As it is very cold animals that live in Tundra land they must be able to cope with the coldness. Here is a list of the animals that can adapt to the extreme weathers.

  • Polar Bears
  • Penguins (any breed)
  • Artic Foxes
  • Wolves
  • And many more

These animals either have thick fur coats or huddle together to keep warm. (some breed of penguins)


Avalanches[edit | edit source]

Avalanches can happen in the tundra. They are enormous piles of snow that fall down and can squash things such as people and animals. You might be thinking that it is just snow but some snow has ice inside it meaning it is very hard. They don't have to be snow some can be ice. People die from avalanches even though they might be extremely strong. They squash you in big piles.
