My name is Tericka Brim and I from Martinsville,Va. I graduated from PHCC in May of 2008 with an Associates in Arts and Sciences majoring in Science. I am attending ODU at the PHCC campus and going for my Bachelor of IDS: PreK-6. I also hope to go on to receive my Masters from ODU. I am a single parent of one child who is a boy named Jasiyah. My son is three years old and attending his second year as a headstart student. We attend church at Greater Love Ministries where our Pastor is the Elder Avery Preston. We enjoy outdoor activities that allow full use of Jasiyah's energy and in my "personal time" I enjoy reading or watching movies.

My personal philosophy on education is that learning should not only enhance one's mental abilities but also that learning should be enjoyed. When you have fun doing something, you remember it better. I believe that a fun atmosphere can only enhance one's mental capabilities. I also believe that you can never know to much information and that we as a people should try to learn something new daily. Whether it's a fun fact or a common myth, it can be something that helps along the journey of life. I believe all information learned will one day be need which is another reason to learn something new each day.I believe the mind is like roads on a map, one pice of information leads to the next. I also feel that each student will learn differently and that sometimes as a teacher you will have to work one on one with some of the students.
