  • It is an island in the Northern Atlantic ocean and is in the northern hemisphere.
  • Commonly known as “The Land of Fire and Ice” Iceland is has some of the largest glaciers in Europe, and some of the world’s most active volcanoes.

Iceland is located in the north part of Europe and is also in the northern hemisphere. It is near the Arctic circle. It is just below Greenland and is in the North Atlantic ocean.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Iceland is a tundra biome. Iceland is mainly a large arctic desert and is the second largest island in Europe. It is famous for its black beaches, white glaciers, steaming geysers, hot springs and many plummeting waterfalls. Though it can be cold, there are many grasslands across the island that inhabit many species of life.

Wildlife[edit | edit source]

Iceland is famous for breeding a special type of horse. They are called the Icelandic Horse. Though they are small they are long-lived and hardy.

Climate[edit | edit source]

Iceland's average temperature is around 0 degrees in winter and in the mountains they are usually around -10 degrees. The lowest ever temperature every recorded was -38 degrees and the highest was 30.5 degrees.
