My name is Megan Varnell and I am 23 years old. I live with my family in Portsmouth, Virginia, where I was born and raised. During the week, I spend most of my time on school work. On the weekends, I spend most of my time at Eastside Pizza, hopefully making some money! When I am not at school or work, I like to spend my time with my boyfriend, Scott, and my two best friends, Krystal and Whitney. I also spend a lot of time and energy with my golden retriever, Havic, who will be 2 in March. Some of my other interests are music (anything but country), VWs, politics, going to the movies, and pretty much just good times! I also love to travel. I most recently visited Portsmouth, New Hampshire about two weekends ago and got to see alot of snow. I made an attempt at snowboarding, but it did not work out too well. I am determined to travel throughout much of Europe. I have been to England, Germany, and Italy so far and fell in love with different things in each country.
I am studying art education here, at the lovely Old Dominion University. I am currently working on receiving my B.F.A in print and photo media, as well as my licensure for teaching. I really love many different areas of art, from ceramics, painting, photography, and lithography. I am really getting eager to graduate and start teaching art to children. I definitely would like to start off teaching at the elementary level, and possibly high school after I have a good amount of experience in the classroom. To me, art class was always my favorite class and was such a great creative outlet. I am very excited to give children the encouragement and guidance that helped me throughout school, as well as see all the interesting ways that each child uses art to express themselves.
