The Tundra Biome[edit | edit source]

The tundra biome is also known as the Arctic/Antarctic it is mainly found in the Arctic circle but can be found in different places : Norway, Finland, Iceland and Greenland. These mountains are an example of what you might see if you visit⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒

The tundra is a very cold place it reaches under -30oc the animals who have lived here for a long time would of have to adapt over the last few decades because of global warming*.

The climate[edit | edit source]

The climate reaches -56oc in the arctic circle but in recent events the average climate of the Arctic has increased massively and is now around 5oc which is very hot for the Arctic and the animals are in danger of dying (see next page)

The tundra groups[edit | edit source]

There are two tundra groups they are the Alpine and the Arctic. It covers 20% of the planet. The tundra is the most deadly environment.
The Arctic[edit | edit source]

The Arctic is known for it's cold desert-like conditions.The growing season is about 50-60 days. There is only400 varieties of flowers. There is a layer of permanent subsoil which is called permafrost. The plants get their water by the rain falling on the ground which forms bogs and ponds which makes the ground moisturized and the plants suck the water up!For more info on the arctic click here!

The Alpine[edit | edit source]

The Alpine is were mountains of high altitude have snow on it. The growing season is 180 days. The night time temperature is below freezing!
