Monk[edit | edit source]

Who am I[edit | edit source]

I don't give my name away on the internet. But I like pseudonyms. You can call me by the following and I'll know that you're speaking to me. Monk, Roland, or Clonky if you're feeling silly.

I am a wikipedia user. My wikipedia page is here: Monk of the highest order.

Why am I here[edit | edit source]

I joined wikibooks because I was working a lot on the East Coast Swing page. I had already done some substantial fixing up of that page on the left underarm turn, and added a terminology section, and when I started making the section on triple-step, I thought "Hey, if I'm gonna keep on adding like this, might as well have a user account." So that's all.

I like writing, organizing, editing, and copyediting books more than I like to work on articles. I feel this way because books, although they can and should have just as high a standard of quality as an encyclopedia article, allow the author to go more indepth, and allow both the reader and the writer to explore all the fascinating nuances of the subject. An article only gives you a sip of that deep pool of knowledge, a book can tell you everything you need to know.

What am I doing[edit | edit source]

Originally, this section said "Really, aside from an occasional edit here or there, I probably won't do anything at all." but I've grown accustomed to doing a little more than that. I've developed a bit of a passion for this place.
