The history of the gastronomy evolves differently depending on the country.

How and when did it emerge?[edit | edit source]

The term was first used in a French poem by Joseph Berchoux in 1801 titled "Gastronomie". The French origins of gastronomy have resulted in many gastronomical terms deriving from French.

How is it studied?[edit | edit source]

Gastronomy is studied with practice; by trying different kinds of foods from different countries and cultures, then categorising them. The field involves the study of cooking techniques, food science, palatability, nutritional facts.
