Power in Terrorism[edit | edit source]

Among all the possible problems the world has to deal with, terrorism seems the most pressing issue that the different countries need to solve quickly as it is a big threat.

Terrorism is about unlawful use of violence and intimidation/threats especially against civilians in the pursuit of a political aim. It can be different attacks that occur everywhere in the world and are completely unpredictable which is a huge handicap to fight it. There are two major types of terrorism: physical attacks and cyberterrorism. Cyberterrorism is a completely new way of proceeding but is extremely dreaded. It affects the computer system and can, for example, spread or use confidential information by the terrorist.

Terrorism has a great impact on the world and is extremely powerful. Terrorists use propaganda and social medias to recruit people. Many people from Western countries end up going to terrorist territories where they are trained and brainwashed. The 9/11 attacks truly symbolize the beginning of terrorism as there was an incredible impact on the society. [1] After this, massive shootings took place all over the world, and recently, in France, Belgium, the United states… It increased especially during the migrant crisis, when large flows of people migrated and was not controlled. [2]

Terrorism has had a great impact on society, as well as politics. Indeed, it completely changed the behavior of the citizens as the population is growing paranoid. People start to mistrust or suspect others by their appearance or other physical aspect. It creates great divisions in societies and discrimination, as well as racism increases. Terrorism impacted national and international politics: some countries, such as France, declared a state of emergency for a long period of time. This is definitely a major issue in the 21st century’s society as it builds doubt and fear in the atmosphere; this is why it is crucial to fight it, but it is far from being an easy task. Terrorist attacks have the power be completely unreliable as they can happen anywhere, at any moment. [3]

Terrorism is a severely urgent problem as it has many damaging consequences on the society, and it is challenging considering the fact that it is utterly difficult to contain.
