My name is Krista Lee Olah. I was born in Norfolk General Hospital on October 3, 1986 and was raised in Chesapeake. I am the youngest of three, with one brother and one sister, both of whom are married. I have one niece and one nephew, both from my sister. Currently I live with my parents, trying to save on rent money. There are about 300 Olah's in the Virginia - Carolina area as well as a few other places, and about 200 relatives from my mom's side, all spread out from West Virginia to Georgia. I am a lover of music, animals, nature, art, movies, books, fairies, Disney, Eeyore, basically anything that holds entertainment and beauty. I believe in hope, the imaginary, and the creative.I live in the farm boonies in Hickory, which is located in southern Chesapeake. I live on a three acre crop farm surrounded by over 300 acres of family crops. I have had chickens, hamsters, about 15 cats, a dog, fish, mouse, bird, turtle, and frogs. Right now I work at a pet store bathing, grooming, feeding, medicating, and kenneling dogs and cats, grooming, feeding, and hand training small animals such as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, lizards, and snakes.
Education Background[edit | edit source]
I began my education at Hickory Elementary one year before Kindergarten by going to speech class, which I continued until eighth grade. I then went to Southeastern Elementary from Kindergarten through fifth grade. After graduating Elementary school I went to Hickory Middle where I began taking chorus and French as two of my electives. Starting at Hickory High I was continuing my studies in chorus, art, and French; I also joined the colorguard. I graduated high school in 2005 with Honors. I began college at Tidewater Community College, first as a Math Major, then changing it to Chemistry major, both with teaching as a minor, and finally to a General Studies Degree to transfer to Old Dominion University as an Education major. I just recently received my Associates Degree in General Studies from Tidewater Community College this past summer.
Educational Theories[edit | edit source]
In the classroom there are many students who learn in different ways. Because of this I believe in imagination, visual and hands-on teaching as well as teaching in lecture, memorization, and text. It not only depends on how the student learns but also on the subject being taught. For example, math would involve visual, text, and memorization. Science is hands-on, text, and memorization; history could be lecture. However subjects like art and poetry would have to be from the view point of imagination.
