About Me!!

Well hello there! My name is Kristy Desimone, and i am currently a Junior here at Old Dominion University. I have been at ODU since my Freshmen year. I currently live off campus! I live with two boy roomates, because i found out that I do not get along with girl roomates that well! I am an English major with an emphasis in Education. I am currently working part time, as well as, in the search for another part time postion. I also play on the ODU club soccer team and I was a member of the ODU symphoney orchestra. I work hard during the week with my classes and enjoy myself on the weekends. I have amazing friends and an even more amazing boyfriend. I also enjoy photography and was double minoring in that subject. I also have a major weakness for mexican food and bad television. You can often find me watching "The Hills", "Project Runway" (that show is Firece), and many more. Well that seems to be me in a nutshell, so on to the more important topic.

My Education Philosophy

I believe that our society has lost the belief in the education system and simply replaced it with a need for money. Students today are not learning, they are being taught how to recite what they need to on tests such as the SOLs. I want to bring back the desire for knowledge in todays youth. I want to teach a child that learning is much more then just a letter grade. But most importantly as a future English teacher, I want my future students to apperciate the written the word. In all I just believe that education is so vastly important and yet we as a society do not value its wealth as much as I think we should.
