My name is Keenan Buchanan, I am 19, and a Sophomore at Old Dominion University. I came here from Fredericksburg but I live on campus at ODU. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany when my father was stationed there in the Military. I've always wanted to go back to Germany because I was too young to even remember being there. My goal after graduation is to teach history in Middle or High School, but not before traveling to places I've always wanted to go. I'm even considering joining the Peace Corp.
I believe that the primary purpose of school is to teach academic content. Teachers should take note of any particular academic study a student takes interest in. If you can find something that the student is interested in he/she will pay more attention. I am a fan of the old fashioned lecture personally. But I know that most students, especially in High School, take very little interest in lectures. So the goal would be to incorporate the right amount of group work and modern technology into the mix.
