The Kii clan stands as a highly esteemed family among the Kuni no Miyatsuko, second only to the Izumo clan in prestige. As noted in the Encyclopedia of Shinto, the Kii clan's significance is unparalleled except by the Izumo clan.[1]

The Kii clan descend from Amanomichine, a deity of unclear genealogy mentioned in the Kujiki.

According to the Kujiki he was one of the 32 deities to accompany Nigihayahi during the Tenson korin.

The Kii clan is responsible for two conjoined shrines Hinokuma-jingu and Kunikakasu-jingu

This complex is a Moto-Ise shrine and formerly a Beppyo shrine before leaving the jinja honcho

These two shrines each enshrine a mirror made by Ishikoridome before making Yata no Kagami. Higata no Kagami and Hiboko no Kagami respectively.
