I had a little trouble deciding what I wanted to do in life, as reflected in my four degrees from Indiana University: BA with a double major in Chemistry and Russian, MA in Slavic Languages and Literature, MLS in Library Science, PhD in Library and Information Science. Most of my working life was spent in libraries of one sort or another (Government documents, Slavic library, Chemistry library), and most of that time was at Indiana University in Bloomington. I served as the Head of the IU Chemistry Library for 27 1/2 years before moving fulltime to the IU School of Informatics where I directed and developed the programs in Cheminformatics and Bioinformatics. I retired from IU on October 1, 2007 and avoided doing anything related to work until recently. The Wikibooks version of Chemical Information Sources is the first serious attempt to get back to my working roots since that time.
