The Encyclopædia and Guide was hardly a book. It was a general repository for knowledge, where many people from all over the planet contribute their information.

Now, how the Guide worked was magic. Literally. The Guide was a small paperback (and front) book that contained a mere ten pages. The first of the pages was an introduction, and the rest were blank. Nothing was on them until the reader said what they wanted to look up. Then the pages magically displayed the related text.
