It allows users all over the world to work together and write textbooks and some instructional books in certain topics. It is an online volunteer collaborative community which means anyone can explore it. These are effective tools for both quite big group projects and for widespread collaboration. In several WikiBooks initiatives, this concept appears to be effective. A wiki allows for the testing(and live updating)of tutorials. Then, these might be combined to create a downloadable textbook. For instance, it can be done for flash tutorials with a lot of additional work. We already produce PDFs for handouts.
