I am Amanda Schaeffer, I am 19 and this is my second year at Old Dominion University. I currently live in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake. I have always had a strong interest in music and art; I have been playing piano for about 5-6 years now, and have been playing the guitar for about 3 it is a passion of mine that I feel will always be a part of m life and who I am.I have also been drawing and sketching for as long as I can remember. I am a big belieiver in freedom of expression and I hope to bring that aspect to the class room. I have always had a gift of explaining things to other people. For example, last year I taught most of my friends most of the chemistry course, and they managed to get A's and B's.

Well, here goes my philosophy"

Throughout my life, I've had teachers i will always remember due to their unique personalities and how they combined that into their lessons. The best teachers are the ones that are passionate about what they do. Students feed off that energy and as an effect learn more because they are paying attention. I also believe that if the teacher gets to express themselves through their lesons that the students should be able to too. I think to make a better learning environment it is good to have students express how they feel on the topic. This way they can debate and therefore learn from each other and become more comfortable with each other. Also, a good teacher makes the topic interesting no matter how boring the subject may be. For example, for an English class trying to comprehend "Othello", the students could act out different scenes and then this way they will actually analyze and comprehend what they are reading. This is all I got so far on my philosophy and I hope through experience that I will learn so much more and add to my philosophy.
