The Basics

I am originally from South Park, PA, outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I moved to Virginia Beach a few years ago, and now am finally in Norfolk, Virginia attending Old Dominion University. I would love to someday move back to Pennsylvania or Maryland because I love the seasons and seeing the trees' leaves turn orange. There aren't enough trees in Norfolk, though.

Education Background

I am at Old Dominion University for Music Education with an Instrumental Concentration.

The Future

I plan to continue with my educational degree at a different accredited university. After getting my Masters, I will either begin a music studio where I will teach local students and perform in varies musical groups, or become a college professor at an accredited university (Steubenville! here I come).

My Educational Philosophy

I believe teachers should understand/become experts in their fields so that they can exemplify to their students what knowledge the students should attempt to strive for, while doing it in a very efficient but fun way. Secondly, I hope teachers would aid students with information not only listed in textbooks, but with interesting facts/stories that will grab their attention from bell ring to bell ring.

Hobbies and Interests

I am currently the first Drum Major of the Old Dominion University Marching Monarchs. Under the direction of Mrs. Patti Carlson, the principal Clarinet player of the Virginia Symphony, I play Bb Clarinet. I play in varies local music groups including the Professional Tidewater Winds Concert Band, the ODU Wind Ensemble, and the ODU Pepband. I have been a guest performer with the VA Youth Symphony and the United States Atlantic Fleet Band. I have been accepted as a lead mellophone player with the Crossmen, a Drum Corps. International Texas group, in 2008, and Carolina Crown, another DCI group, in 2006; and also, a music camp counselor at the Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, in the summer of 2008.

Simply, I love music and learning many instruments. My favorite quote is: "Play the music, not the instrument."-anonymous
