Topfield 5800/Troubleshooting/Quick Channel Scan

The Auto scan is quite slow since it has to cover the whole range of UHF channels. Since there are only 6 multiplexes (or muxes) on Freeview it is much quicker to plug in your corresponding 6 local UHF channel numbers into a Manual scan. This (after a Factory Reset) will also eliminate the chance of (poor quality) duplicates being picked up from other nearby transmitters, which can cause grief to TAPs like MyStuff.

  • Note down the 6 different UHF channels for muxes 1, 2, A, B, C and D.
  • Enter these channels one at a time into a Manual search (Installation menu, Service Search item, change the search type to Manual). It is possible that the number range available doesn't cover the channel, effectively stopping you from putting in the channel number. In this case ... i dont know what you can do.

If you're just trying to update to incorporate the latest Freeview channel shuffle then you might be able to just delete the old/moved channels and scan just the particular muxes that have the new channel data.
