Articles[edit | edit source]

Tok Pisin does not have a definite article. The word ol can be mistaken for a definite plural article, since it can feel like it should be translated as "the" for instance in "ol diwai" meaning "the trees". However, it is merely a marker for plurality and if plurality has already been established it is not used.

In Tok Pisin, the word for "one" wanpela is also used for the indefinite article.
