ZigBee is a short range networking standard designed for inexpensive and simple networking. ZigBee's intended purpose is to connect a variety of home, personal, and commercial automation devices. Approximate range is 33–328 feet. It is designed for applications that require low data transfer rates and several years of battery life. ZigBee is designed to accommodate more that 65,000 devices on a single network at support rates from 20 kbit/s to 250 kbit/s, depending on the frequency being used. ZigBee is most convenient when used in a personal setting.[1]
