The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/The Gospel of Jesus Christ
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Christian church, which worships Jesus Christ. He is the center of the faith and is very important in all scriptures of the church and in the daily lives of its more than 15 million members. Jesus is also a part of the name of the church, which was prophesied by Jesus in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is also another Testament of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith and his successors in the church also teach that Jesus is the most important man to follow. The Church teaches also that Jesus Christ, God the father and the holy spirit are three different beings with one purpose. Because of this, the church is called nontrinitarian. The church also waits for the second coming of Jesus in this latter days, hence the name Latter-day Saints. Jesus came to the old world in the Bible in Israel and to the new world in the Book of Mormon in the Americas. Thus every people are visited by Jesus and he loves everyone. In the other scriptures beside the Bible, Jesus explains his atonement and his dying for our sins in very great details. So the Bible and the Book of Mormon complement each other. Latter-day Saints emphasize the belief in the resurrected Christ. So they use no crosses in their meetinghouses and temples. This is done because the resurrection of Christ is far more important than his death upon the cross. Latter-day Saints believe also that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and that he was seen by modern prophets like Joseph Smith.
Latter-day Saints also have been given the mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through membership "every member a missionary" slogan. "Gospel" means "Good News". We believe that Jesus Christ is the Great Jehovah. The Creator of all Creation in this Realm. The Only Begotten Son of God, or Elohim.
We believe that man can communicate directly with Heavenly Beings. That is the "Good News". We are not left alone here on earth to fend for ourselves. Joseph Smith Jr. was a young boy in his 14th year when he was given his First Vision and visited by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He had maybe a third-grade education. He could read and write. He was not learned by any means. But he was very intelligent and believed The Bible, which was his literature reader as he was mostly home taught, was and is to be taken for what it actually is The Word of God as translated correctly.
