Template:Void/doc

This template does nothing.

More exactly, it outputs the null string. It's useful for programming advanced templates.

  • It often is used within a template to the right of an equals sign.
  • It can bevery useful in (usually temporary pending a revision, or to troubleshoot template behavior) killing part of template or page containing text and (especially multiple) html comments (<!--- some commented stuff --->) surrounding the combined strings and multiple lines inside the template, which feeds them ... nowhere. Into the mythological bit bucket.

Alternatives[edit source]

It's also possible to use Template:X instead of {{void}}.

Some magic words like Template:X might also have the desired effect of doing nothing.
