A number of different versions of Super Mario Bros. have been made.

In 1986, Nintendo released a special version of the game in to the arcades called Vs. Super Mario Bros., which contains mostly modified levels, as well as a few new ones. The game has been reproduced on the Super Nintendo with enhanced 16-bit graphics as part of Super Mario All-Stars, on the Game Boy Color as Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (Its new features are documented on its own Wikibook), and the original NES version was re-released for the Game Boy Advance as part of the Classic NES Series. Super Mario Bros. was also released for the Virtual Console on the Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U, as well as the Nintendo Switch Online service.

The Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. was a major dedicated retro revival handheld released in 2020, and contained a version of the original Super Mario Bros. as one of its three games.
