Neuroscience/Neuroanatomy/The Brain

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

The brain is a rather unassuming organ. It's hard to believe that about two fist fulls of quivery, grayish-pink matter of a custard like consistency is the seat of consciousness and control for our bodies. In fact, the human brain is the most vital organ we possess, but also the most delicate.

Regions and Organization

[edit | edit source]

The brain has three main divisions based on function: the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brain stem. These parts of the brain each carry out different functions in the grand symphony that is thought and action.
