Professor Slughorn cast this spell on Marcus Belby when the latter began to choke after swallowing too fast.

Analysis[edit | edit source]

The incantation for this spell is based on the Greek πνοη (breath), which is also seen in a number of words in English starting with "pneu-"; the prefixed α may mean "no" with the αν in front of that negating the negative, to change this to mean "restore stopped breath".
