Always wear a lab coat and also when required contain long hairs using a hair net or in a ponytail. Wear gloves appropriate to the chemicals you are using. Wear safety glasses or goggles at all times to protect the eyes from chemical splashes.

It is important to notice that these PPE (personal protective equipment) needs to be chosen wisely and properly. This is due to the fact that in a laboratory there are many materials and hazards requiring different types of gloves (water samples need different gloves than those needed when dealing with acidic ones).
