Yugoslavia[edit]

  • Postage meters first came into use in Yugoslavia in 1930.
  • Only a few meters show a meter number.
  • In 1991 the country began to disintegrate in a civil war and ceased to exist by 2003 when the remaining states of Serbia and Montenegro officially became the Republics of Serbia and Montenegro. See CROATIA, MACEDONIA, MONTENEGRO, SERBIA and SLOVENIA for stamps of the former states of Yugoslavia.
  • The stamps are divided into groups based on the frank design.
A - With double-headed eagle logo
B - Provisional issues with "JUGOSLAVIJA" alone or without country inscription
C - With coat of arms logo
D - With country name preceded by “FNR”, frank without logo
E - Blank field without logo
F - With the plain letters “PTT” as logo
G - With stylized italic “ptt” as logo
H - With colorless “ptt” in solid circle
PO - Special designs generated only by machines in Post Offices
