  • A former trust territory of the United States, the Republic of Palau gained independence in 1994.
  • The earliest meter found with the new country’s inscription is dated 1995 and remains the only stamp type reported so far. The inscription is “ROP POSTAGE”.
  • For issues before 1995, stamps of the United States were used.
