Namibia
[edit | edit source]- The former South African-administered territory of South West Africa became self-governing in 1990 and changed its name to Namibia.
- Namibian meter stamps are grouped as follows:
- A - Territory of SOUTH WEST AFRICA, 1930 - 1990
- B - NAMIBIA, 1990 to present
- PO - Special stamps generated only by Post Office machines
GROUP A: Territory of South West Africa, 1931 – 1990

- The frank is slightly larger than with Types B10-12.

- Large corners as with B12 but frank is typically (although not always) closer to square than wide.

- Date at top, followed by "PAKKETPOS — PARCEL POST" in arc above the value line (postage, serial no.), "BETAAL/PAID", and post office name.

PO2. Anker? (MV).
- Similar to Type PO1 but wider and shorter label, 60 mm wide by roughly 40 mm tall.
- Text at top is “POSTAGE PAID / POSGELD BETAAL / post office name.
- The date-value line at bottom contains: date (with year vertical), serial no., postage.
- The month is usually a Roman numeral.
- Inscription sizes vary considerably.
