Ivory Coast
[edit | edit source]- A former French colony, the Ivory Coast gained formal independence in 1960.
- All meters are inscribed “COTE D’IVOIRE”.
- The first meters so inscribed appeared in 1958. For issues before this date, see FRENCH WEST AFRICA.
- The stamps are grouped according to country inscription:
- A - “COTE D’IVOIRE” alone
- B - “REPUBLIQUE COTE D’IVOIRE” or “REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D’IVOIRE”
- PO - Stamps from machines in post offices, inscribed "LA POSTE de Côte d'Ivoire"

- Upright frank with single line, simulated-perforation border broken at center of sides.

- Centered in the frank are the value figures, "FCFA", the date, and meter number at bottom.
- At far left of the frank is a square 2D bar code below a postal code and the town name.
- Four codes of unknown purpose are found between the 2D bar code and the frank. The one at lower left appears to be an impression counter number.
