  • The first meter was installed in 1941.
  • All stamps have “IRAQ” or “REPUBLIC OF IRAQ” in the frank.

1. Universal “Multi-Value” (MV), 1941. [$50]

Post Office stamp. Upright frank with simulated perforation border and straight line inner border.
Inner panels at sides containing vertical “POSTAGE” at left and Arabic text at right.
“FILS” below value figures.
M# and “U” prefix in boxes in lower corners
Only one machine, U1, known.

a. Proofs of this stamp have double-circle town mark.

2 . Universal “Multi-Value” (MV), 1955. [$75]

Same general form as with Type 1 but larger.
“D. | FILS” below value figures.

3. Pitney Bowes-GB “Automax” (MV). [$5]

Upright frank with single, wavy line border.
Value figures doubled with Arabic above Western numerals.
“POSTAGE PAID” stacked at left.

4. Pitney Bowes-GB “5000” (MV).

Horizontal frank with single, wavy line border.
“REPUBLIC OF IRAQ” below Arabic text at top.

Similar to Type 4 but English country name at bottom rather than top.

Both Arabic and English country names at top.

Large, nearly square frank with wavy line border.
Country names at top with “FILS” above value figures.

8. Pitney Bowes/GB "A900” (MV).

Horizontal frank with large simulated perforations along the right half.
Map of Iraq in globe design at upper left.
Circular town mark breaks the frank at left.
Meter number with "PB" prefix at lower left.

9. Unidentified (digital).

Post Office stamp.
Horizontal rectangle with simulated-perforation border.
"IRAQ" at top (English at left, Arabic at right).
M# with "No." prefix at bottom.
