[edit | edit source]- The first meter was placed into use in 1952. All stamps have “GIBRALTAR” in the frank.
- The stamps are grouped by purpose:
- A – stamps for general business and private use
- PO – generated only by meters used in post offices

- Upright frank with simulated perforation outer border.
- Country name in panel at top, “POSTAGE” and “PAID” in panels at sides, crown at bottom center.
- M# and “S” prefix in boxes in lower corners, with Tudor Crown (for King George VI) between.

- Values: ½d to 1/0½d in ½d increments.

- Horizontal design with simulated perforation border with widely spaced ‘holes’.
- “PARCEL [crown] POST” at top above date and “GPO”.
- Country name at bottom.
- Value figures at right in box with open sides.

PO2. Make and model uncertain (digital).
- Frank without country name but with "GIBRALTAR / POST OFFICE" in the town mark.
- Frank is square with crown at top and identification number at bottom.
- With transaction number at right outside of frank reading up.
- Identification number with "GPO" prefix.
