Fiji[edit | edit source]

The first meters were used in 1930 when the country was a British protectorate. All stamps show “FIJI” in the frank.
The stamps are grouped according to appearance as follows:
A - With monogram of the King of England, 1930 – 1953
B - With monogram of Queen Elizabeth II of England, 1953 - 1987
C - Post independence, without monogram, 1987 forward




GROUP A: 1930 to 1953. Frank contains Crown and King’s monogram “G v R” or “G R”[edit | edit source]


A1. Universal "Midget" (LV-5), 1930. [$10]
Nearly square frank with simulated perforation border.
Inscribed “POSTAGE” and “PAID” in vertical panels at sides,
lower corners contain "M" prefix at left and meter number at right.
Large crown over "G v R" monogram in center.
Two machines only, M1 and M2.

A2. Universal "Midget" (LV-3).
As Type A1 but monogram "G R", with “v” removed.

GROUP B: 1953 to 1987. Frank contains crown and monogram of Queen Elizabeth, “E ii R”[edit | edit source]


B1. Neopost (LV-2?). [$15]
Similar to Type A3, but bottom corner shapes larger, and crown much smaller.
One machine known, N1.
Values seen: 6 , 1/-




B2. Universal "Multi-Value" (MV). [$5]
Upright rectangle with simulated perforation border.
Similar to earlier types but larger.
“U” Prefix and meter # in lower corners with small crown and “EiiR” between.

B3.1. Francotyp "Cc" (MV). [$5]
Very similar to Type B2 but narrower spacing between TM and frank, and value figures larger.
M# with “X” prefix.

This is Type B3.1 with the frank frame removed leaving only the town mark and value figures.
No meter number.

Similar to Types B2 and B3 but “FIJI” larger and without panel lines at sides.

Square frank with straight single-line border.
"POSTAGE/ PAID" reads up at left.

B5.1. Roneo Neopost “2205” (MV).
As Type B5 but with "POSTAGE" at left and "PAID" at right.

Horizontal rectangle with panels at top and bottom, “POSTAGE/PAID” vertical at left.
