[edit | edit source]- The earliest meter was installed in 1953. All stamps inscribed “REPUBLICA DE EL SALVADOR” or “CORREOS EL SALVADOR”.
- Catalog values are not provided due to low demand, but several of the stamp types are scarce to rare.

1. Pitney Bowes “R” (MV), 1953.
- No outer frame. Country name at top above TM, cap/mountain logo, and value box.
- Small “AMERICA CENTRAL” above value box.
- M# with “P.B. prefix below value box.

- Similar to Type 1 but much narrower.

- Upright straight-line frank with country name in two lines at top.
- Coat of arms at bottom right with “CENTAVOS” at left.
- M# with “P” prefix below “CENTAVOS”.

10. Francotyp “Taxograph” (MV).
- Post Office stamp.
- Horizontal frank with simulated-perforation outer border and straight line inner border.
- M# with “T” prefix vertical breaking left frame lines in middle.
- TM is rectangle with rounded corners.
- With or without “R” and number (for registration) between TM and frank.
- One seen, meter number T-1.
