The Arab Trucial State of Abu Dhabi used meter stamps at least as early as November 1967. In 1971 it merged with several other Trucial States into the umbrella group United Arab Emirates. Stamps inscribed “ABU DHABI” continued to be used for many years after the merger. See also United Arab Emirates.
