A Miller-to-Be is the eighth chapter of Eragon.


Summary[edit | edit source]

Roran has news for Garrow and Eragon as the three gather around the dinner table. Roran reveals that he accepted a job at the mill in Therinsford and is due to leave in 2 weeks. Fearing the worst, Eragon and Roran brace for the worst. Surprisingly, Garrow is accepting of this and is supportive for Roran to evolve into adulthood, beleiving "It's life's natural course". Roran prepares to leave by packing.

On a brighter side, Saphira is growing bigger. She now understands Eragon and is able to fly and catch animals such as eagles.

On the night Roran is to leave, Eragon almost tells his cousin about Saphira, but decides against it, worried about how busy his cousin already is with his packing.
