The Systems Life Cycle topic looks at the stages and processes involved in designing and developing a new computer system. The system could be a stand alone programmme or it could be a complete computerised system. No matter the scope of the project the stages involved in the project are the same.

Note: in other IT or technology syllabi the stages might not necessarily be the same as the ones shown here. These are the stages designated by CIE.

There are six stages to the System Life Cycle:

7.1 Analysis
7.2 Design
7.3 Development and Testing
7.4 Implementation
7.5 Documentation
7.6 Evaluation
