U.S. Coastal Zone Management Act

General Description[edit | edit source]

This Act declares a national interest in land use decisions previously viewed as local in nature by acknowledging that a rapidly growing population is endangering the fragility and beauty of the coastal zone.

Purpose[edit | edit source]

The purpose of the CZMA is to preserve the unique values of the coastal lands and waters by encouraging states to devise land and water use plans for coastal protection.
