If there was space or time we could right a book on audio and how it relates to video, but for practical reasons this should at least serve as a guide. before we get into specifics of audio in ffmpeg, lets take a moment to look at audio as it relates to video.
Light Compressed Audio[edit | edit source]
An compressed audio format can not me used as anything but an intermediate or end user format. If you want to offend an audio engineer give him a compressed format as the master.
The three largest audio codecs available on the market are MP2, MP3 and ACC, of which only MP2 is natively encoded
