In English Grammar, Can and Can't which is short for cannot has a significant value.

Can is used when a person is able to do something.

Can't (short of Cannot) is used when a person is not able to do something.

For example;

I can help you.

In Negative sentences, it will be;

I cannot help you or I can't help you.

While in Interrogative Sentences, it will be;

Can I help you?.

There are more sentences like;

I can run 5 miles a day.

I can read one book a day.

I can write 1000 words a day. etc.
