Hypertension is often referred to as a "silent killer" because even severe uncontrolled high blood pressure usually has no obvious symptoms. However, even when the blood pressure level is only moderately elevated, the patient may have headache, dizziness, or nosebleed. In general, these symptoms do not occur unless the blood pressure changes dramatically or until blood pressure reaches a dangerous level.
