Every enterprise had dozens of processes by which it fills customer orders, hires, pays, and terminates employees, orders and receives material, locates new business, and pays suppliers. Some common major processes are Order To Cash and Procure to Pay. The processes involve both employees and software and normally cross department boundaries. Workflow automates and regulates these processes via sets of procedural rules using e-mail to notify employees. With workflow, processes are simple, fast, and uniform as well as easy to change. Only large ERP packages have a Workflow module.
