Yellowtail may refer to a variety of fish species, but it most commonly references Japanese and yellowtail amberjacks (Seriola quinqueradiata and Seriola lalandi, respectively).

Japanese amberjack[edit | edit source]

Japanese amberjack, also called hamachi, bangeo (방어), or yellowtail tuna, is a variety of jack fish native to the Pacific Ocean. It is eaten raw or cooked, and it is the main component in yellowtail sushi.
