This is a simple recipe of chopped sweet potato sautéed with honey. It's delicious and very easy to make.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Peel the sweet potato, then chop it into 1 cm (0.4 in) cubes. The pieces of sweet potato don't need to be exactly 1 cm on each side, but they should all be around that size to ensure even cooking. Discard the peel.
  2. Heat a large frying pan on a stovetop burner over medium heat.
  3. Mix the honey, salt, and paprika together in a small bowl.
  4. Add the butter and oil to the pan, then wait for the butter to melt fully.
  5. Add the potatoes to the pan and stir until evenly distributed around the pan. There shouldn't be any sweet potato chunks on top of each other.
  6. Pour the honey mixture over the potatoes and stir until it's evenly distributed across all of the potato pieces.
  7. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring the sweet potatoes every other minute. It's important to stir the potato pieces in order to prevent them from burning on one side, but stirring them too frequently won't allow them to brown sufficiently, which is why it's important to stir once every 2 minutes or so.
  8. Serve topped with extra salt to your liking and enjoy!

Notes, tips, and variations[edit | edit source]

  • If using salted butter instead of unsalted butter, just add a bit less salt in with the honey.
  • Both orange and white sweet potatoes work well with this recipe—the image is of white sweet potatoes, so it may look a bit different using the orange variety.
  • For a sweeter version, use more honey.
  • The calories are calculated with canola oil and a 130 g sweet potato. The exact calorie count may vary based on the oil used or the size and variety of sweet potato.
