Nigerian potato cutlet is a sort of crispy mashed potato patty, well-seasoned and flavored with cooked onions.

- Irish potatoes
- Salt
- Vegetable oil
- Onion, chopped
- Garlic, minced
- Fresh ginger, minced
- Cayenne pepper powder
- Cinnamon powder

- Nonstick frying pan
- Knife
- Potato masher
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Wash and peel the potatoes.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Remove from the heat and drain the potatoes.
- Heat a thin layer of oil in a nonstick pan, and add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook for a few minutes until the onion is softened, then remove from the heat.
- Mash the potatoes, then stir in the cayenne, cinnamon, and cooked onion mixture. Season with salt.
- Shape the potato mixture into patties. Pan-fry the patties until golden and crispy on both sides.
- Serve hot.
