Guyana is a country located on the northern coast of South America. It borders the Atlantic Ocean, and is the only nation in South America to speak English, due to its past history as a British colony. Because of this, it is culturally associated the Caribbean island nations than to the rest of South America, and is formally recognized as a Caribbean country.

Guyanese foods have a distinct blend of influences from East Indian, African, Amerindian, Chinese, Caribbean, and European cultures. Amerindian dishes like pepperpot, a stew that is cooked in cassareep, and East Indian- based dishes such as roti and curries are widely prevalent, along with Chinese foods.
