Common Sauce is a multi-purpose sauce that can be used for a number of meat-based dishes and side vegetables. This recipe is an interpreted method from the original recipe in Henry Hartshorne's the Household Cyclopedia.
Ingredients

- Ham slices
- 2 onions
- 2 parsnips
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 cloves
- 500 ml broth
- 175 ml white wine
- 2 slices of lemon
Procedure
[edit | edit source]- Combine veal, ham, onions, parsnips, garlic, and cloves in a large saucepan.
- Add broth, wine, and lemon slices.
- Simmer over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until reduced.
- Sieve the sauce and serve.
