In addition to the Lagrangian description of the system, the Hamiltonian description can also be used.

The Hamiltonian \mathcal{H} can be constructed as follows

\mathcal{H} = \sum_{n} p_{n}\dot{q}_{n} -\mathcal{L}

Where p is the momentum, q is the position, and \mathcal{L} is the Lagrangian.
